Three cheers

We finally got our new grill-top installed in the kitchen upstairs and decided to try it out and make sure it worked! We had a kitchen dinner-party yesterday and treated ourselves to (real) sirloin steaks! Stephen grilled the steaks to perfection with fresh cracked pepper and garlic butter and Jenni and I made the rest of the meal - cheddar thyme biscuits and stuffed mushrooms for starters, twice baked parmesan potatoes, ice cream with strawberry sauce and coffee hazelnut truffles. The truffle recipe I use is from HERE. We even found an almost-A1-steak sauce that was quite good! Let's just say it's a good thing we don't eat like that every night!

The kitchen is definitely at an all-time best right now, and we are only as good as the people who work here, so I am definitely thankful for all the awesome people who I get to work together with every single day! Right now we represent Romania, Holland, China, India, Finland, Germany, USA, South Africa and Brazil. It's not always an easy job, trying to please 240 teenagers and young people from 30 different cultures, who can be very opinionated. You have to develop a bit of a tough skin, love what you do and do the best that you can, then roll with it. The boys, especially, have taken some ribbing for being in the kitchen, but when they are given the choice to go and work somewhere else during an event, or stay in the kitchen, they stay every time! I also love how when, on occasion, someone complains about having to wash so many dishes, or cut SO MANY tomatoes, and I say "No problem! I'll just call BTR and tomorrow you'll be out of the kitchen and scrubbing toilets!" they suddenly REALLY want to do whatever it was!
Three cheers for an awesome and really fun team!!

Ahem...Well hey..not to say that the kitchen isn't a cool place to be, but I personally was ON the team scrubbing toilets. :-) And believe you me, you can have as much fun with that as anything else as long as you have fun ppl to work with. Well, and a good attitude about it. :-) Right Maria? Lol. Gosh, all the memories... Glad you guys have fun in the kitchen tho. :-)

It's true, Kris. Attitude is everything! It's still fun to tease them, though. :D

Yummy Food! And Yes, I agree with Kris. I was going to comment roughly the same thing so I'll just say dito. While I LOVE cooking food in my kitchen, I really would have rather cleaned the toilets than work in the kitchen. Even though... the kitchen is way different now. : ) Yay for upgrades! We did have some quite hilarious times with some VERY nasty surprises cleaning though... ugh! LOL! Toenails... ; )

And House 3!

Guys who can cook and like to cook AND WANT TO COOK! are simply totally cool, methink.

Hats off to happy cooks!

I'm SURE you guys had awesome times, too! Everyone isn't cut out for the same thing, though. A couple of the guys were just sitting down in the office chatting and laughing today and one of them said, "You know, the kitchen here is THE only place at Brunstad where you choose to come to work on your day off!" That made me smile. :D I was thinking about your toenail episodes today, too! And the missing pipe in the wall...!! Horrors. Totally agree, Roshini! :D Hats off!!

Wow, that food looks good! =)

UH yes, lucky Maria missed the pipe in the wall episode! Nastiest job I EVER did and ever hope to do! And I don't think we cleaned house 3, Roshini. I believe that was taken down when we were on the cleaning team. We did tho, clean the basement in house 4!!! Lol. I think that was one of the most hilarious days on the cleaning team. Rememeber Maria? Yay for memories! Yay for ppl at Brunstad who do jobs that no one else wants to do. (or thinks they don't) :0)
