Distractions
I have an economics paper due by midnight on Sunday, and I just can't
seem to knuckle down and get into it. My biggest "excuse" is that my wooden
desk chair is very uncomfortable and doesn't sit well, which means I
can't sit at my desk for long periods of time. Sitting on the couch is
more comfortable, but there is no space to write and spread out papers
properly. The kitchen table is too high for my chairs and my wrists
start to go numb and burn after about an hour. The solution? This chair from IKEA. I'm planning a trip next week during spring break, and pretty much can't wait!!
I love that this chair is fun, looks like it would be impossible not to be comfortable, fits at a desk but doesn't scream OFFICE CHAIR, is height adjustable and is not on wheels. LOVE.
The other distractions are all of the half finished bits and pieces around here. I like things to be functioning, organized and know where they can be found. I'll be really glad when the painting is finished, the curtains are up and the floor is down, so I can go through all of my boxes and find everything that "I know I had", and put it in it's proper place! I'll be glad when I'm out of the "limbo stage" that I still feel like I'm in. It's a constant struggle for balance between work, school, friends and church activities, and getting this place finished as soon as possible. I did move the last bit of stuff out of my old room upstairs over the weekend, so that stuff is sitting around waiting to be put away as well. :) I know that this time of upheaval is good for me, otherwise I wouldn't be going through it, and I'm working on not letting things bring me out of rest and being THANKFUL for EVERYTHING. Everything. "For the things that are seen are temporary, but the things that are not seen are eternal".
When I was moving everything out of my room, I found a rolled canvas that I had made from a photo I took in France when I was visiting just before I came home in 2010. The picture was taken through a frosted window, so it looks like a painting, and I just love it!! I'd been waiting until I moved down here to find a spot for it, and somehow, it needed to be framed and hung up immediately! I put it together this afternoon, when I couldn't concentrate on my paper, and it is now hanging on the kitchen wall. I.finished.something. :)
The original photo.
I'm also loving my shelf in the kitchen with my old painting of Italy!! Stop by for a cup of my new favorite Thai coconut chai if you like!! I love distractions company! :)
Now, back to my old pal Economics... I'll beat him yet!!
ooooh! I love that chair! (and distractions! I'm very good at getting distracted!) :D
I know the unsettled feeling. After two years I'm still sometimes looking for things 'I knew I had.' :( I'd love to stop by for a cup of chai. In the meantime, the very best of wishes on your paper. This too shall pass... :)
Wow, I really thought that was a painting! Really cool!
