From Bulgaria, with love
Yesterday we were treated to a really nice, authentic Bulgarian dinner, made by Stela and Anna. They came to me a week ago and said they would like to make a Bulgarian dinner for A-lag. I thought it sounded like a great idea and it's nice to change up the menu so we arranged everything. The menu was a kind of potato lasagne with hamburger and a egg/white cheese sauce, a mixed salad of tomatoes, roasted red peppers, onions, feta cheese and a lemon juice/oil dressing, and dessert was "chocolate salami" made from crushed cookies, melted chocolate, cocoa and just a little splash of Tia Maria. It was quite good and they got lots of compliments!
I was talking with a girl at lunch today and I related hearing someone a few years ago tell about how we should be like a bottle of ketchup. No matter if you throw it up against the wall, drive over it, jump on it, say rude things to it, whatever, all that comes out is ketchup. It's something I'm really working on; that it's only goodness that comes from me no matter what is thrown my way and it's not a nasty surprise for the others when something unpleasant happens. Only goodness.
Hi Teresa,
Just reading and looking at the pics makes me hungry! I could go for some chocolate salami at the moment. The whold meal was really a nice treat!
I have a question... What exactly is Tia Maria? You know that means "Aunt Maria" in Spanish... Is it some sort of spice?
Lol! A "splash" would indicate liquid, and one that you don't need a lot of. ;) It's a coffee liquer that resembles kahlua. :D Yeah, it's only used in moderation and it's kept in the safe in my office. :P
