A day in the nation's capital

We took the elevator up the Washington Monument to the look-out deck (500 ft). George Washington was a good, good man. It's cool to be reminded of the people that founded this country, and what they stood for.
Laurel and Edith at the Jefferson Memorial - another awesome guy.
 Waiting for the Tourmobile...
 A dorito-eating squirrel
Angela, giving FDR a much-needed and well-deserved shoulder massage!
The lines of the unemployed were long in the 1930's
Liz, with FDR's dog, Fala
The 5 of us, at the FDR Memorial - it's one of my favorites!
 FDR, again, with E & L.
 Unstopped by the drizzle
The wall is always a moving place. You see veterans and families, looking for the names of the ones they loved and fought with. There was a star-shaped wreath left there, made of yellow flowers, with a ribbon that read, "Gold Star Mom."
In the Air and Space Museum - one of the most popular museums in the world
Yeah, we didn't pass...

Hello October! It's been awesome to have a bit of warm sun, but I so am looking forward to fall!! I love the colors, crisp air, a crackling fire in the fireplace, apple cider, warm sweaters and blankets. Bring it on!

Happy weekend! All the best to my good friend getting married this weekend, and an awesome trip to all my (lucky) friends traveling to Israel! It will be my turn to go there one of these days!!
