Pippi + Pizza

Last Tuesday, we finally took our kitchen girl's trip to the homeland of Pippi Longstocking. I had free tickets for the ferry to Sweden and back so we decided to make a day of it and got girls from the resource group to come and make the food that day while we were gone! It was really nice to get away and just hang out together! I put together a scavenger hunt for the girls on the boat ride over and it was pretty funny to see what they came up with! Some things on the list were: signature of a Swedish person, chocolate, a pink sock, a hat, sea water, a stapler, another free ticket to the ferry, a leaf, a picture of one of the stewards in front of the Viking ship, etc. It was really fun to hear their stories of how they found their Swedish person, found what they believed to be sea water, and begged for free tickets. The winning team went into one of the shops to try and get a free ticket, told the clerk why they needed it and he gave it to them right away, then asked them what else they needed. When they showed him the list, he let them take whatever they needed from his shop - stapler, free ticket, a hat, pink socks - asking only that one of the girls leave her passport there until everything was returned! Fun! We had about 4 hours in Sweden before we took the boat back, so went poking around in shops and exploring the small town of Stromstad. We passed this pizzaria that is so keen on clean floors that they make the customers take off their shoes at the door!

Coffee was definately on the list after a rainy and chilly couple of hours.
Waiting to board on the way home.
We had reserved the Girl's Room for us when we got back to Brunstad and we had pizza and watched "No Reservations" with a projector and white screen. Everyone had fun and it was a special and memorable day!

Sounds like an awesome time! Pippi has got to be one of the most fantastic storybook kids around. :D I nearly died over the people with "clean floor phobia" Sheesh, I wouldn't like to work there. You probably have to wash the entire place with a tooth brush every other day. Right now I am eating chinese food leftover from last nights dinner with Tina. It is good! Do you have chinese over there? They seem to be slowly but surely getting more stuff... Doritos? Or were they from home?

Hehe, well the clean floor theory was entirely supposition. It just looked really funny to see the shoes stacked outside the pizzaria! To be honest, I haven't had good Chinese food since I was home a year ago, and it was a year before that! So no, they do not have it here, but yes to the Doritos! They have them at Meny, along with Hershey's syrup and chocolate chips, Skippy peanut butter extra crunchy, Hickory Smoke BBQ sauce, Kraft blue cheese and ranch, and much, much more! Good stuff!

Hi Teresa,
The No Shoes things really caught my interest. I have NEVER heard of such a thing! Your trip with the girls will certainly be memorable one.
Hey- is that movie any good?

I loved it! It's really funny and of course, we related to the whole "running a kitchen" thing. :D I think you'd like it. You can borrow it when I come home, if you want!
