Pull out the holly...

Last weekend was our last "free weekend" before Christmas vacation. I needed to do a bit of shopping and ended up at Sarah's place where we, being in the Christmas mood, put together a Christmas countdown project that she saw online. It was fun to do something creative again and they turned out really nice! (good girl's craft project!)

The whole thing was made from matchboxes, paper, cardboard, a few baubles and cut-out letters and make-shift drawer handles made from rivets and faux pearls. Oh yeah, and hot glue. Lots. And burned fingers! I was looking for some mini ornaments to put in the drawers that you would hang on the tree every day, but they are pretty much non-existant here. I settled for assorted chocolates. Not that chocolate is ever a bad thing! (photo curtesy of Sarah)

We took a break and made Ruebens!! With REAL sourkraut. Missed the pickle though. (photo curtesy of Sarah)
Quentin found Mickey ears and kept trying to put them on his head. Sarah said he hasn't seen anyone put them on for a couple of months. Smartie pants!! He is 10 1/2 months now. (Sarah has a really cute video of this that she just posted) Plantasjen is one of the very few shopping establishments that is open on Sunday, which Sarah and I hit on the way home. The joke is that if you feel like going out on Sunday, you go to Plantasjen, and then to McD's, as those are pretty much your only options out on the town! Anyway, it was a really nice store and reminded me of the garden section of Lowes with fresh and fake trees, plants, decorations and cool stuff. I bought some holiday stuff for the office and my place as I had N O T H I N G in the way of decorations for either.
My little tree for the office.
A cool star for my window
And a poinsettia - one for the office and one for my place. The girls loved the Christmas decorations and we've been playing Christmas music non-stop! I keep taking new CD's in as I usually end up hearing the same one over and over like 10 times a day! Not that I don't love Josh Groban, Noel, but there are limits...! (I'm happy for my Michael Buble one this year, Debbie!) Today, Emily and I slipped out a little early and took the kitchen car to Tønsberg, to get some things we need for the up-coming feasts. We meandered the streets in search of a cool kitchen shop that carries a small section of Wilton cake decorating supplies, and oh so much more COOL kitchen stuff. I was in the shop once, a year and a half ago and either they moved or my sense of direction wasn't so keen today. We finally found it, and got everything we needed (and more), including evil American food coloring!! Afterwards, we stopped by McD's and had a treat before heading back to Browntown. It was fun to get out! I pretty much have every day until I leave filled with something and I'm trying to find enough time to get everything done in the two weeks that are left! It feels like the days are just whipping past and even though I am really looking forward to going home, it's coming up awful fast! "Stay focused and take one day at a time!" Btw, Sarah was updating at the same time as me tonight, so check out her site too. She uploaded some cute ones of Q!

Very nice update. I am spending Thanksgiving with the Cooper's then the day after, instead of going crazy shopping for cheap things...me and my roommates are going to sleep in, eat pancakes and Coffee(i will probably go for tea or hot chocolate). Then we are going to buy a tree!!!! I can hardly start to wait to decorate for Christmas but I can never make myself do it before Thanksgiving is over. Then we actually have two different holidays. Anyways, I better go get some sleep. I am going to the Cooper's for Thanksgiving and I have to make Candied Yams. Oh and as a side note "NEVER EVER EVER GO WATCH The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas", EVER!!!!!!!!! IT IS EXTREMELY SAD! And this goes for anyone else who reads this. It is extremely depressing and downright messed up. LOVE YA!!!!!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
