Let it snow...
This is the sight that greeted me yesterday morning when I opened the blinds!! I was totally shocked as there was no snow in the forecast, only rain this whole week! I expected it to melt within a few hours after the sun came out, but it didn't and it continued to snow for most of the day, turning to rain towards the evening. It was really cool and everyone was super excited and in a good mood! It's supposed to be freezing the rest of the week. FUN! It's especially nice since I don't have to dig a car out in the morning to be able to go to work!!
In addition to seeing cool, familiar faces here over the weekend, I was treated to some aged cheddar cheese which I have been nibbling at and enjoying immensely! (thanks Rob!) You simply can't get cheese like this here!
Today: It rained pretty much all day today, and all that's left of yesterday's snow is some slush. We, however, were warm and toasty inside, baking soft ginger, spice cookies for dinner and were really, REALLY thankful we weren't on the carrot-picking team! There is an agricultural farm just outside of Brunstad and a team of about 30 people have been helping harvest the carrots and it's just not a very nice job, especially when there's a freezing rain out and the field has turned to mud. Yeah, we were HAPPY to have an inside job! Today we ordered PUMPKINS and they will come tomorrow! We are only getting SIX this year because the price went up from 19 kr ($3.00) a piece from last year to 79 kr per kg ($7.00 per lb)!! We are going to carve them and put them out as decorations for a week or so, and then roast them to make pies for Thanksgiving and roast the seeds for snacking! I can't wait!! Countdown: 43 days until I come home! That's going to go FAST! Oh yeah!
Rediculous you have snow alrady!
